Thank you to the Accreditation Summer Working Group for the very fine work they did in the summer, and for providing us with such valuable background work. Their summary is reprinted below:
You could, and actually should, also read the Accreditation Summer Working Group Report.
Dear colleagues,
As the Accreditation summer working group, 8 of us came together to look at what accreditation is all about, how we could all benefit from being accredited, and all the different options available to institutions like us.
We found out as a group that Accreditation is a certificate of competence in a specified subject and of the integrity of a group awarded by a respected accrediting organization(www.businessdictionary.com).
We also learned that EAQUALS is not our only option, and that there are quite a few options available to us. Therefore, we decided to find out more about some of these (please see the attachment for details). Interestingly, looking at these different options, we realized that we already fulfil many of the requirements of accreditation bodies.
Most of all, we were interested in how accreditation can benefit us as teachers as well as our students: Accreditation gives prestige not only to institutions but to the teachers themselves. It also emphasizes that each teacher has a meaningful role in their workplace. Another very important benefit is that teachers and students take pride in working and studying in an accredited institution. All in all, we found out that accreditation is a gradual process which will ultimately benefit anyone and everyone involved.
Attached you will find the documents put together by the 8 members of the Accreditation summer working group. We welcome your comments and feedback on the work done so far, as well as suggestions for future paths.
